The Voigt Family: Summer Trip to New Hampshire

This summer we took a family vacation to New Hampshire with all the Moore clan. It was such a wonderful vacation--beautiful weather and scenery.

We stayed at an old house in Bradford, NH, that was once an Inn, and now can be rented out for big gatherings.

One day we went to Boston and did a hop-on hop-off tour. The boys loved getting to see Paul Revere's statue and the Wax museum. We ate pizza in a cute little park. My favorite park was the Boston Public Garden--so many beautiful trees! There was also a display of the book "Make Way for Ducklings". Of course, we had to tour Fenway.

One day our little family climbed Mt. Sunapee. I had researched this and we were excited to do hiking together as a family. I found a nice, one-mile hike that I thought would be perfect for us. When we arrived at the state park, the lady informed us that the one-mile hike was only accessible after doing a two-mile hike to the summit. WOW! We were not prepared for this, but decided to go for it.

It was such a great experience! Lucas, with his little legs, was the one we were most worried about. However, he had great stamina and often was leading us up the mountain, choosing to take his own path instead of the trail and cracking us up by saying things like, "this is the hard way, but the fast way." I'm so glad we got to share this experience with our boys. They were such troopers and we ended up doing a four-mile hike round trip.

One day we drove to Maine to stick our toes in the Atlantic Ocean and try some lobster. The water was FREEZING! But the beach was beautiful--so much different than any beach we've been to before. (Rocks instead of sand). We visited Kittery Point and then Fort McClary, where we were able to see a lot of old structures including a blockhouse dating from 1844.

We visited Vermont another day (Beautiful! I want to move there) and toured the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory, tasted some fresh apple cider and did a short hike to a gorgeous waterfall.

Besides all that, we had tons of great family and cousin time, ate some great food, did a few more adventures and small hikes, and had lots of road-tripping as we explored New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts.
